A story from the studio: My largest commission

My largest commission is an incredible project: a 1.5m x 1.5m version of my painting “Dance of the Pīwakawaka.”

It’s much larger than I usually paint, and the process has been such a joy - scaling up all the playful movement, the rhythm of the birds, and the vibrant colours that people love. It’s been a beautiful reminder of how special it is to create something that connects deeply with someone’s story and space.

While I don’t normally paint pieces this big, this commission opened my eyes to what’s possible - and I’m excited to create more personalised works in all shapes and sizes.
