This painting was inspired by memories of sitting in my sunroom watching tūī feeding on pōhutukawa blossoms - the contrast of deep reds, vibrant greens, and that unmistakable shimmer of blue-green feathers.

Each time one appeared, it felt like a little burst of joy.

This piece captures that feeling - the aliveness, the colour, and the quiet magic of New Zealand nature.

The curved koru-like forms echo the movement of blossoms, while the bright, uplifting colour palette brings a sense of warmth, energy, and life into a space.
